In general, IVF has significantly higher success rates than AI, particularly for women over the age of 35 or in cases of more complex fertility problems. At IVF-Life, 70% of patients undergoing IVF achieve pregnancy. This rate increases to 83% when combined with genetic testing and rises to 90% when the treatment is performed using donor eggs. These outcomes exceed the European average.
Both treatments require ovarian stimulation, but with key differences. In AI, the stimulation is mild, as the aim is to mature one or two follicles (to minimize the risk of multiple pregnancies). In IVF, the stimulation is more intensive to obtain between 6 and 15 eggs, as larger numbers increase the chances of success and also allow the freezing of surplus embryos for future attempts.
