Gidget is used to scan Petri dishes, tubes, and other consumables used to maintain and process patient material, helping to eliminate potential mismatch errors.
The system generates unique labels with specific barcodes for each patient, and these are assigned to specific days within their cycles before any procedure is carried out.
The Gidget traceability system enables each patient to be correctly identified and their biological samples and laboratory materials to be linked using unique barcode labels. This ensures that correct identification is maintained throughout the different stages of treatment and before each procedure is performed.
Gidget facilitates the tracking of each patient's gametes and embryos throughout the different clinical and laboratory procedures. The system electronically records the different stages of the process, as well as the staff members involved in each procedure and the time at which it is performed, reinforcing the traceability of biological samples.
Gidget acts as a verification system during laboratory procedures, helping to prevent potential sample identification or mismatch errors. Scanning Petri dishes, tubes and other materials helps ensure that they are correctly associated with each patient.
This system acts as a witness to any IVF (in vitro fertilisation) procedure within the laboratory and does so in two ways:
