At IVF-Life, ovarian stimulation is carried out following personalised protocols to obtain enough eggs that can be successfully fertilised and give rise to an adequate number of viable embryos.
The stimulation lasts between 8 and 14 days, during which ultrasound scans and blood tests are carried out to check that the patient is responding adequately to the prescribed medication. Thanks to the medication, the patient's follicles grow progressively until they reach the optimal size for follicular puncture.
When the follicles are of optimal size, follicular puncture and aspiration guided by vaginal ultrasound is scheduled. The operation is performed in the operating theatre under light sedation, so that the patient does not feel any discomfort. A few hours after the operation, the patient is able to resume life as normal.
After obtaining the optimal eggs, they are immersed in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196 ºC. This procedure halts their age until they are fertilised and transferred to the patient. Cryopreservation preserves eggs at the same quality as when they were collected.
