The answer is the same as for any other time of year: absolutely. In reality, the most important thing is that it is the best time for the future parents. There is no specific medical contraindication just because it is summer.
In fact, many people take advantage of these months to take the step precisely because they have more free time, less work pressure, and can focus on their well-being without so many interruptions. Also, if you live abroad, summer can be the perfect opportunity to come to Spain for your treatment in a warm, welcoming environment, and with the possibility of combining it with a few days of rest at any of the IVF-Life clinics: in Alicante, Madrid, or Donostia.
With the arrival of summer, many people wonder whether it is a good time to start assisted reproduction treatment. High temperatures, vacations, and changes in routines can raise doubts, but the reality is that summer can be just as good a time as any other to embark on this important process in many people’s lives.
If you decide to start your treatment during the summer, here is everything you need to keep in mind so you can prepare to experience this stage with calm, confidence, and security.
One of the most important aspects to consider is the storage of medication prescribed for treatment preparation, especially if we are in the middle of a heatwave. Many of the drugs used in assisted reproduction, such as FSH or hCG hormones, need to be kept refrigerated (between 2 and 8ºC).

Therefore, it is essential to store them in the fridge as soon as you pick them up from the pharmacy. If you travel, you can use thermal bags with cold packs and, of course, you should avoid leaving them in the car or places where they could be exposed to the sun or high temperatures.
However, you can consult our professionals with any questions you may have about the storage of each medication.
Both cold and heat can influence how we feel physically and emotionally, and that also depends on each person. For this reason, if you are going to start your treatment in summer, you should keep some tips in mind.
In our experience, many patients value very positively starting their treatment in summer. Having time for yourself, stepping away from the fast pace of daily life, and connecting with nature or enjoying a relaxing vacation can make a big difference. And if you come from outside Spain, summer offers you the opportunity to enjoy our climate, our beaches, cities full of history, and delicious gastronomy, all while taking an important step on your path to motherhood.
If you are thinking about starting your treatment, do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help you plan it and accompany you every step of the way. Summer can be the beginning of the journey you have been waiting for.
