Victoria and Ross have returned to IVF-Life with their son Rex. It was a very special reunion that gave them the opportunity to look back on their journey to becoming a family and share how they see that experience today from a completely different perspective.
Starting a family is not always as easy as it seems. Victoria and Ross are one of the thousands of couples who come to Spain each year for its excellence in reproductive medicine. Victoria already has a child from a previous relationship, but she would like to have one with her current partner Ross: "Although Ross is an excellent stepfather, he would also like to have his own biological child and I wanted to share that with him", says Victoria.
After trying almost everything in their home countries, Spain is the main destination for British couples and single women to fulfill their dream. The Iberian Peninsula is a pioneer in the field of reproductive medicine in Europe, and Spanish legislation is more liberal, allowing clinics to offer more advanced fertility treatments without long waiting lists.
Victoria and Ross discovered that Victoria suffers from endometriosis and is a carrier of a genetic defect, a balanced translocation on chromosome 18, which could be passed on to her baby. Her AMH hormone level was quite low, making it difficult for her to get pregnant naturally, especially since egg quality was declining due to her age. Therefore, the couple had already decided that an egg donation treatment would be the best option for them.
"The previous clinic we went to in Cyprus disappointed us in what we expected. Here it has been excellent. IVF-Life is first class at all times. Communication has been so clear all the time. It has been such a good experience coming here", Ross mentions.
At IVF-Life we believe communication is key to supporting our patients at all times and establishing a very close doctor-patient relationship based on full understanding and trust. By providing an environment where patients feel safe and confident, we contribute to their emotional well-being as well as the success of their treatment. We monitor their treatment at home from Alicante from the beginning until after 12 weeks of pregnancy.
"Many women come here and place all their last hope in us", explains Dr. Aizpurua. With the latest cutting-edge technology, IVF-Life is one of the fertility centers with the highest success rates in Europe, and we are delighted to help this lovely couple and be part of their journey.
"With the help of an egg donation treatment, our fertility journey came to a happy ending", Victoria explains with a smile on her face. "I got pregnant and here we are today with our little ray of sunshine Rex, thanks to IVF-Life: We really couldn't be happier."
Nine years after their story with IVF-Life began, Victoria and Ross have returned to Alicante. This time, not to start treatment, but to share with us how their story has unfolded since then. In 2017, the couple came to our clinic after a long journey in search of an opportunity to grow their family. Following egg donation treatment, Victoria became pregnant and Rex was born. Today, nine years later, they wanted to return to the place where this chapter of their lives began and share how they remember the experience, what choosing egg donation meant to them, and what family life is like for them today.
Meeting Victoria, Ross and Rex again almost a decade later gives us the opportunity to show a different perspective on fertility treatment: the one that begins when treatment ends. Their testimonial explores the decisions, doubts and emotions that accompanied their egg donation journey, but also everything that has happened since. Today, their story continues as that of a family who once decided to travel from the UK to Alicante in the hope of fulfilling their dream of having a child together.
