imMap (Immunological Testing)

Advanced techniques: imMap (Immunological testing)

If you have had fertility treatments in the past or have been trying to get pregnant but have experienced repeated implantation failure (when several treatment cycles do not achieve implantation) or recurring miscarriages (two or more consecutive pregnancy losses), your best option is to have a specific immunology test.

Immunology tests identify the cause of the failed implantation or miscarriage. These tests are advisable where embryonic causes and/or endometrial factors have been ruled out. When investigations point to immunological factors such as an abnormal response to development of the embryo by the mother’s immune system - as a possible cause. That’s why these specific tests are necessary to obtain a precise diagnosis.

How do we perform the immunology tests?

IVF-Spain’s immunology test, known as Immunology Map, is performed on an endometrial biopsy in the luteal phase and a blood sample for following up with immunotherapy.

Samples are analysed under a flow cytometer. This is a biophysical technology employed to detect immunological markers and cell counting.

If abnormal levels of immune cells are detected, immune therapy suited to each patient can be offered. These immune treatments can improve the reproductive outcome of patients, increasing the chances of embryo implantation and reducing the probability of miscarriage.
